about vanessa

Founder / Teacher

Yoga transformed my passion for life.

I was firstly drawn to the rhythmic movement of the asanas (poses), seeking something that would help me escape a stressful corporate life and benefit my own anxiety and depression.

Coming to my mat over and over, I found the grace in connecting this movement with breath and a personal transformative practice that helped me create greater connection and presence.

Seeking greater understanding and an extension of my practice off the mat, I completed my first 280-hour teacher training with Nicole Walsh and followed this with an additional 100 hours Intermediate training in Living Yoga, Alignment and Assisting (BodyMindLife).

My love for the the 'yoga chill pill' Yin Yoga has seen me complete another 100 hours Yin Yoga training with Melanie Mclaughlin (The Yin Space) and Level 1 Insight Yoga: Psychology, Yoga and Buddhism with Sarah Powers (Insight Yoga Institute).

Alongside Masterclass & Intensives training with a number of International Yoga teachers (Tara Judelle, Simon Park, Ana Forrest, Les Leventhal, Bryan Kest), I have recently started my Shiva Rea journey with 25 hours delving into the Roots of Vinyasa.

My interest in Teens and Womens health has led me to train in Fertility, Prenatal, Postnatal and Mums & Bubs Yoga with Ana Davis (Bliss Baby Byron Bay), Yoga for Teens with Eating Disorders with Nikola Ellis (Adore Yoga) and Food and Nutrition Coaching (Nature Care College).

I now share my passion for using Yoga and Nutrition to support and empower women, to develop nourishing practices that promote self-care.

I am also an Embody Love Movement trained facilitator leading workshops that inspire and empower girls and women to embrace their inner beauty, and practice kindness towards themselves and others.

Yoga helped me find my centre again, create greater connection with myself and others and it continues to do so every day. It has also helped me live with purpose and contribute to meaningful change on issues that matter to me.

By fully embodying a Yoga life, I meet the constant unravelling these practices provide with self inquiry, open exploration, kindness and compassion, bringing a down to earth, authentic approach to my teaching. I am a Registered Level 1 teacher with Yoga Australia and Registered RYT200 with Yoga Alliance. I currently teach Yin, Restorative, Vinyasa, Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga classes in Sydney (timetable).

I also volunteer for A Sound Life charity teaching Yoga to teens with Mental Illness (including Eating Disorders) in Sydney Hospitals.

I'm always so grateful to share the gifts of yoga. Here are some recent words of love from clients.

I attended Vanessa’s prenatal classes at Inyoga studio during my entire pregnancy and I really enjoyed it. It helped me a lot - to avoid back pain, manage my emotions, strengthen my body for the big day and find peace of mind. Vanessa is an awesome teacher and I really recommend her classes to all mothers to enhance and enjoy even more their pregnancy.

Vanessa has a gentle, nurturing class style which brings a beautiful positive energy to your yoga practice. I trained with Vanessa from 16 weeks right through my pregnancy up until just a few days before giving birth and I always felt completely safe with Vanessa’s guidance and knowledge during my pregnancy. I would always feel so energised following our classes and pregnancy stresses, aches and pains would melt away. I would highly recommend her sessions to anyone during their pregnancy
