about vanessa

Founder / Teacher

I discovered Yoga 7 years ago, while looking for a way to escape the stresses of life. Having trained as a dancer I was drawn in by the rhythmic movement of Vinyasa but stayed for the space the practice gave me to slow down, experience a deeper connection to myself and be more present to life.

Witnessing my own transformation through Yoga inspired me on my teaching path, with the intention of sharing this empowering practice to offer my students an opportunity to experience their own transformational journey.

I completed my first 280-hour teacher training in Sydney with Nicole Walsh and followed this with an additional 100 hours Intermediate training in Living Yoga, Alignment and Assisting (BodyMindLife).

My love for the the 'yoga chill pill' Yin Yoga has seen me complete another 100 hours Yin Yoga training with Melanie Mclaughlin (The Yin Space) and Level 1 Insight Yoga: Psychology, Yoga and Buddhism with Sarah Powers (Insight Yoga Institute).

My interest in Teens and Womens health has led me to train in Fertility, Prenatal, Postnatal and Mums & Bubs Yoga with Ana Davis and Rosie Matheson (Bliss Baby Byron Bay), Yoga for Teens with Eating Disorders with Nikola Ellis (Adore Yoga) and Food and Nutrition Coaching (Nature Care College).

I have recently started my Shiva Rea journey with 25 hours delving into the Roots of Vinyasa and continued to delve into my love of womens practices with over 80 hours of specialty womens yoga training.

My passion is using Yoga and Nutrition to support and empower women, to develop nourishing practices that promote self-care, allowing you to realign to your natural flow, offering space for you to explore the physical and energetic shifts from your practice with self inquiry, kindness and compassion. Balancing stillness and the subtle practices of breath and meditation with more dynamic movement, my classes bring a balance of strength and softness, inviting you to discover freedom physically and mentally and take this into life off the mat.

I am a Registered Level 1 teacher with Yoga Australia and currently teach Yin, Restorative, Vinyasa, Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga classes in Sydney (timetable). I take my practice off the mat as a Food and Nutrition Coach, Writer, Dancer and Volunteer for charity A Sound Life – teaching Yoga to teens with Mental Illness (including Eating Disorders) in Sydney Hospitals.  I am currently also embarking on a Bachelor of Health Science in Nutrition and Naturopathy to bring further credibility and support to womens care in the community.

Yoga helped me find my centre again, create greater connection with myself and others and it continues to do so every day. It has also helped me live with purpose and contribute to meaningful change on issues that matter to me.

By fully embodying a Yoga life, I meet the constant unravelling these practices provide with self inquiry, open exploration, kindness and compassion, bringing a down to earth, authentic approach to my students.

I'm always so grateful to share the gifts of yoga.

Here are some recent words of love from clients.

Firstly, just wanted to say that I attended my first pre-natal class with Vanessa last night which was absolutely fantastic! She was wonderful, and really inspired me to start up at yoga again after a loooooong hiatus!

I attended Vanessa’s prenatal classes at Inyoga studio during my entire pregnancy and I really enjoyed it. It helped me a lot - to avoid back pain, manage my emotions, strengthen my body for the big day and find peace of mind. Vanessa is an awesome teacher and I really recommend her classes to all mothers to enhance and enjoy even more their pregnancy.
— Barbara Kadji (2017)
Vanessa has a gentle, nurturing class style which brings a beautiful positive energy to your yoga practice. I trained with Vanessa from 16 weeks right through my pregnancy up until just a few days before giving birth and I always felt completely safe with Vanessa’s guidance and knowledge during my pregnancy. I would always feel so energised following our classes and pregnancy stresses, aches and pains would melt away. I would highly recommend her sessions to anyone during their pregnancy
